Immediate Steps and Guidance for Handling Dental Emergencies
When faced with a dental emergency, taking the right steps before you reach our office is crucial. Here's what to do:
- For a knocked-out tooth: Keep the tooth moist at all times. If possible, gently place the tooth back in the socket without touching the root.
- For a severe toothache: Rinse your mouth with warm water. Apply a cold compress to the exterior of the mouth to alleviate pain and swelling.
- For lost fillings or crowns: Keep the crown or filling if you have it. Avoid chewing on the affected side and contact us immediately.
- For abscesses or infections: Rinse with mild saltwater several times a day to reduce pain and draw the pus to the surface.
